Irish Entertainer Gary Arbuthnot has captivated audiences throughout the world with his beautiful tone, flawless technique and outstanding musicianship. Equally at home in the fields of classical, pop or jazz, he has performed in many of the great musical halls. His exciting shows include a full band with magical lighting and (upon request) Irish Dancers.

Voted Entertainer of the Year by the World’s Leading Cruise Line, Crystal Cruises. Gary has cruised around the globe sharing his music with thousands of cruise passengers on such cruise lines as: Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Crises, The Cunard – Queen Victoria and Queen Mary 2 voyages, The Royal Caribbean, and more. Gary was also a Prize-winner at both the Markneukirchen and Carl Nielsen International Flute Competitions, and was awarded the Meaker Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Music, London. Other prizes include the BBC Radio Three Young Artists Forum, an English-Speaking Union Scholarship, and awards from the Hattori Foundation, Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Claudio Abbado European Young Musicians Trust and the Foundation for Sport and the Arts.

Gary Arbuthnot was born in Antrim, Northern Ireland, Antrim town is located in the valley of the Six Mile Water stream, his homeland consists of high rolling moorlands gradually descending to the valley of the River Bann and the lowlands along the shoreline of Lough Neagh, just the type of landscape you would expect a brilliant Irish flutist to have hailed from. Gary studied with Colin Fleming and then at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Sebastian Bell and Michael Cox, at McGill University in Montreal with Timothy Hutchins, and later with Sir James Galway and Emmanuel Pahud. He has worked as principal flute with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Opera de Lyon, France, the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra, Brazil.

He has also performed as a soloist at venues including the South Bank Centre in London, the Waterfront Hall in Belfast, Pollack Hall in Montreal, the Kennedy Centre, Washington and the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Since 2002 has been touring his show “Stage and Screen” to rave reviews and is proud to have performed before over a million people throughout his career, all around the globe.
